Dr. Mahaadev D. Dixit is one of India’s most esteemed cardiac surgeons, with over 33+ years of experience in open heart surgeries.

He has performed 35,000+ plus open heart surgeries in his astounding career, of which 10,000+ are pediatric. He is constantly involved in complex pediatric cardiac surgeries like Arterial Switch Procedures, Pulmonary Conduits, Fontan procedures, Sennigs procedures, etc. He is one of the few doctors who operate on the entire spectrum of cardiac surgeries - from neonatal to transplants, including Minimal Access Surgeries. He has also performed Neonatal cardiac surgery on a baby weighing 900 grams.

He has an MBBS degree from JNMC, Belagavi and an MS in General Surgery from Government Medical College, Bellary. He received his Diplomate of National Board - Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeon from Bombay Hospital, Institute of Medical Sciences, Bombay. He was the first person to perform robotic heart surgery in Karnataka.

Dr. Dixit is a life member of the Society of Pediatric Surgeons: USA, the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, a Trustee at Asia Heart Foundation, involved in building heart hospitals across the country, and the Chairman of Priyadarshini Eye Healthcare and Research Foundation Belagavi.

Earlier, Dr. Dixit worked as a Professor & HoD of CTVS and has been a keen teacher and examined for both MCh (CVTS) & DNB (CVTS). His research, Bent of Mind, led him to obtain his PhD from KLE University; at present, his field of study has played an influential role in the aetiology of Coronary Artery.
